Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) ripped the double standard surrounding reactions to Terence Crutcher and Colin Kaepernick during an interview with Buzzfeed on Tuesday.

“Right now on the Internet you have another unarmed African American who was murdered this week — or killed this week,” Booker said in reference to Crutcher’s death at the hands of a Tulsa police officer. “From the video that I saw, even with the way he was being referred to, I mean there is this dehumanization going on on the audio, and people seem to be more outraged by an NFL player taking a knee than the murder or killing of an unarmed black man.”

  1. This has to stop. This is immoral in so many ways that I do not know where to begin. From our lack of gun regulations to the abundance of rapid fire weapons. Lack of gun regulations have allowed this nation to be over policed with weapons of war. Minorities are murdered daily by police with little to no outrage. This man did everything right and was still victimized, devalued, falsely profiled, and murdered by law enforcement. The media has even attacked the peaceful organization, “Black Lives Matter”. Corporate media is not helpful with their lack of or misleading reporting, lack of coverage, and lack of outrage.

We can not even talk about racism or guns in the USA. When did greed become more important that freedom and safety for all? If police want to be treated with respect, they need to serve us all equally. They need to stop making excuses for bad behavior. Police have the advantage in our legal system unlike our citizens. They selected this job and were professionally trained. If Police profile, devalue, and treat minority lives with indifference, they should be held accountable and fired.

Sorry for ranting and jumping from topic to topic. That this type of murdering racism is still happening today is shameful.

    1. You are absolutely right, gen. Ranting, screaming, shouting and otherwise throwing a fit is appropriate. Too many aren’t listening. Too many are dismissing those who protest these outrages as “troublemakers.” And too many excuse their own racist views by conflating their bigotry with a support for law enforcement.

We are not attacking law enforcement. We are attacking racism. We are attacking lack of accountability. We are attacking the idea that “might makes right.” Black lives matter too.
