I have thought about this over the years as I watch our global society deal with the same issues over and over. Any nation that uses America as an example is bound to be flawed. America suppresses their women. They are even returning to time where women are valued only as a wife and mother in the USA.
I am always amazed when Americans characterize Muslim societies as backward for their attitudes toward women. Have these folks not listened to any Republican leaders lately? American society as a whole is only a couple of decades ahead of the Muslim world in its attitudes toward women.
Likewise, American society was only about 30 years ahead of South Africa in terms of civil rights for African-Americans when apartheid began to end there.
American society has come a long way toward realizing the promises of liberty and equality. We still have a lot of work to do. The whole world needs to do more than just pay lip service to protecting women’s rights.
I am confused now. Today, some are claiming that ISIS maybe a better option than the current ruler. Is that true? It is so confusing and so many different faiths. So much blood shed and killing of innocents. If the current leader promoting genocide? I thought ISIS was doing that.
